In this tutorial, I’m going to show you how to setup iPad 2 or an iPad 1. Step by Step.

Step 1 to Setup iPad:

Remove the plastic shrink wrap and open the iPad box. (See, I told you this would be easy!)

Now remove the plastic protective covering from your factory fresh iPad. Go ahead sniff your new iPad, you know you want to.

Step 2 to Setup iPad:

If you don’t already have iTunes installed on your computer, you will need to download it at…

http://iTunes.com/download

Just enter your email address… click the download button… click run… Then just follow the on-screen installation instructions from Apple.

iPad Setup Step 3

The next step in the iPad Setup Instructions is to plug the cable that came in the box, into the side slot on your iPad.

Then plug the other end, into a USB slot in your computer.

iTunes should open automatically. If it doesn’t, just click on the iTunes icon on your computer to open it up manually.

Step 4 Register your new iPad with iTunes.

Now onto the next step to setup iPad

iTunes will open a welcome screen the first time you plug your iPad into your computer.
The next few screens prompt you to register your iPad, and set up your iTunes account … if haven’t already done this in the past.

If you’ve already used the iTunes store, then you already have an Apple ID. (That’s what you use to sign into iTunes.) Just enter your Apple ID and password on the first registration screen, and hit continue.

If you don’t have an Apple ID, simply check “I do not have an apple ID”, click continue, and you can sign up for one. Just fill out the form. It’s free, and painless.

After you get past the Apple ID registration form, you’ll be asked if you want to “restore from a backup”, “or Setup as a new iPad”.

I already had a previously setup iPad with music, books and videos saved in my iTunes account, so I restored from a backup. But, If you don’t have anything previously purchased from iTunes, just select to setup as a new iPad.

Now that your iPad and iTunes account are in Sync, you’ll see a folder for your newly setup iPad on the left side of iTunes. I cover how to transfer music, books, videos and other media to and from your iPad in other tutorials in this series. I’ll also cover how to find and download media, if you’re brand new and your iPad is a blank slate.

Step 6 Charge your iPad

OK, one final step to the setup ipad instructions

Your iPad comes partially charged from the Apple factory. But, you’ll want to charge it up fully after playing with it for a while.

Remove the cube shaped power charger from the box, by pulling up on the little plastic tab. Then remove the plastic shrink wrap.

Next, Remove the USB plug from you computer, and plug it into the power charger.

Then plug the power charger into the wall.

You’ll probably want to charge it over night, so you can play all day tomorrow with your new iPad.

Enjoy!
